Program Philosophy

Learning through play

  • Children develop through universal and predictable stages of play

  • Educators provide play spaces, supply child-size props that represent real world objects, time, and multiple activities that offer children choices for their play and learning experiences

  • Educators also act as a co-player and be in a unique position:

    • to extend children’s ideas and/ or challenge inequities

    • view each experience as a learning opportunity alongside the children. May explore the socio-cultural dynamics of the group of children with one another and adults

Cognitive Based Learning

  • Young children learn through active exploration in an environment which is rich in materials and opportunities to converse, socialize, work, play, and negotiate with others

  • The classrooms are planned to encourage curiosity, exploration and problem solving in an atmosphere of warmth, affection, and respect for each child

  • Teachers plan experiences based on children’s interests and appropriate educational concepts

Equal Partnership

  • We consider you, the parents, equal partners with us, the educators, in your child/ children’s development and education

  • We respect and value you and hope you will be equally involved with your child/ children’s development

  • We would love for you to participate in discussions about daycare policy, child development concerns, and curriculum planning, and evaluation
